چکیده
Abstract Most of the buildings damaged by mainshock 2016 Kumamoto earthquake were concentrated in downtown Mashiki Prefecture, Japan. We obtained 1D subsurface velocity structures at 535 grid points covering this area based on 57 identified models, used linear and equivalent analyses to obtain site-specific ground motions, generated detailed distribution maps peak acceleration Mashiki. determined construction period every individual building target corresponding updates Japanese codes. Finally, we estimated damage probability nonlinear response model wooden with different ages. The map probabilities was similar ratios from a field survey, moderate northwest where no survey conducted. found that both site amplification houses are important factors for evaluating seismic risk structures.

The 2016 Kumamoto earthquake sequence
Beginning in April 2016, a series of shallow, moderate to large earthquakes with associated strong aftershocks struck the Kumamoto area of Kyushu, SW Japan. An Mj 7.3 mainshock occurred on 16 April 2016, close to the epicenter of an Mj 6.5 foreshock that occurred about 28 hours earlier. The intense seismicity released the accumulated elastic energy by right-lateral strike slip, mainly along two...

The 2016 Kumamoto earthquake (Mw 7.0) occurred in the central part of Kyushu Island, southwestern Japan, on April 16, 2016. The mainshock triggered an event of maximum acceleration 700 gal that caused severe damage to infrastructure and thousands of homes. We investigate the source location of the triggered event, and the timing of large energy release, by employing the back-projection method f...

During the passage of the seismic waves from the M7.3 Kumamoto, Kyushu, earthquake on April 16, 2016, a M5.7 [semiofficial value estimated by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA)] event occurred in the central part of Oita prefecture, approximately 80 km far away from the mainshock. Although there have been a number of reports that M < 5 earthquakes were remotely triggered during the passage o...
متن کاملStrong motions observed by K-NET and KiK-net during the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake sequence
The nationwide strong-motion seismograph network of K-NET and KiK-net in Japan successfully recorded the strong ground motions of the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake sequence, which show the several notable characteristics. For the first large earthquake with a JMA magnitude of 6.5 (21:26, April 14, 2016, JST), the large strong motions are concentrated near the epicenter and the strong-motion attenuat...
متن کاملGeomorphic features of surface ruptures associated with the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake in and around the downtown of Kumamoto City, and implications on triggered slip along active faults
The ~30-km-long surface ruptures associated with the Mw 7.0 (Mj 7.3) earthquake at 01:25 JST on April 16 in Kumamoto Prefecture appeared along the previously mapped ~100-km-long active fault called the Futagawa-Hinagu fault zone (FHFZ). The surface ruptures appeared to have extended further west out of the main FHFZ into the Kumamoto Plain. Although InSAR analysis by Geospatial Information Auth...
